Summer…Summer…..Summer-time!!!!
Ms.Glennon’s 2nd class
We had a very exciting and busy final month of the year. We went on our school tour to Turoe Pet Farm where we had a great time. We got to enjoy the huge indoor inflatable city, the outdoor playgrounds and Astro-turf along with feeding the animals on the farm.
We also had our Active School Week this month. We got to enjoy many activities from athletics to cricket, orienteering and yoga. We were very lucky as Leon’s dad brought members of the Nenagh Cricket Club to come in and show us how to play. It was great fun. We had a hurling blitz towards the end of the week against our old friends in NCNS. We got to meet our past teachers and classmates. Mr.Greene treated us all to ice-cream afterwards.
We also had our sports day. We enjoyed many activities including tug of war, sack race, egg& spoon, penalty shoot out, fancy dress relay, basketball, rounders, circuits and our favourite water relay. We really enjoyed watching the teachers take on the boys from 6th class in a game of dodgeball at the end of the day.
Finally, we are all well ready for our summer break. We have had a busy but enjoyable year in second class. Everybody is looking forward to a good rest over the summer!
Mr. Smith’s 3rd class
We have been very busy as we usually are in Room 1.
We have really enjoyed our learning this month.
In SESE, we studied the sun and the solar system, learning many interesting facts about the different planets.
We also looked at the role the sun plays in our seasons.
In art, we designed a cool seaside scene.
The boys in our class really enjoyed the novel that we have been reading for the past number of weeks, “The Iron Man” by Ted Hughes.
Our class really enjoyed sports week.
Also, we went on our school tour to Roll’n’Bowl in Portlaoise. It was an excellent day and everyone had so much fun.
Finally, Nathan in our class won the Supermac’s colouring competition. The reward was that our whole class got visit the Supermac’s in Nenagh where we tried our hand at making pizza’s. They were delicious and we had great fun.
It has been a great school year and we look forward to our summer holidays which everyone has most definitely earned.
