Ms Comerford’s Junior Infant class
We had a busy month here in room 4! Junior Infants were working very hard to prepare for their Christmas performance and they were fantastic on the night of the show! We visited St. Mary of the Rosary church to see the crib and we got to see the Nenagh Christmas Tree festival too. We loved looking at all the different Christmas Trees and decorations. We had a special visit from Santa the day after our Christmas show and he gave us some treats for being so good! We are really excited for the holidays and would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Ms McLoughney’s Junior Infant class
The highlight of December was the fantastic Christmas show, where the Junior Infants took center stage! They sang beautiful festive songs and were absolutely amazing. The whole class had so much fun rehearsing and getting ready, and their performance was a joy to watch. It was a wonderful moment to see all the students on stage. The Junior Infants have been getting creative by making their own Christmas decorations. The students loved using their hands to create such beautiful crafts, and they were thrilled to see their work decorating the classroom and bringing festive cheer. One of the most exciting events this month was the Santa Run! The Junior Infants had a blast running after Santa, getting into the holiday spirit and staying active. The students really enjoyed the fun of it all.
Mr Kenny’sSenior Infant’s class
Senior Infants have only had one thing on their mind this December, and that’s Christmas!
We have been very busy preparing for the school Christmas Concert, with the help of Mr Tooher. It was a great experience to perform in front of such a big crowd. We sang ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ & ‘Jingle Bells’, and we hope everyone enjoyed!
We learned all about animals from different cold climates, like the Polar Bear in the Arctic and Penguins in the Antarctic. We also learned about Tom Crean, and his famous expedition to the South Pole, and about Christmas folk tales from different countries!
In Maths we have been learning all about length and measuring, and how estimating can be useful. We used lollipop sticks, blocks, Lego, and even our bodies to measure the length of different objects around the room. We have been honing our discussion skills in English, as we reviewed books and films about Christmas, like ‘The Snowman’. A big thank you to Ms. Slattery for her ongoing efforts in organising our weekly literacy stations, as we continue to enjoy reading in school!
We have also been very busy decorating the inside and outside of our classroom for Christmas. We made our own snowmen out of cotton wool, designed our dream Winter clothes, decorated Christmas trees, and showed how all snowflakes are unique! Ms Gleeson even helped us to make sure Santa’s Reindeers are well-fed for their busy night next Wednesday!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the girls and boys in Senior Infants!!
Ms Shanahan’s 1st class
We had a busy December and are all ready for our holidays. We wrote recounts in English and shared them with Ms McCutcheons class. We learnt all about 3D shapes in Maths. We finished our swimming lessons. We learnt all about the King and Queen in Chess. We did some lovely Christmas Art and made Christmas cookies. We sang ‘Almost Christmas’ in our Christmas Show, and we danced to Jingle Bell Rock. We really enjoyed performing to everyone. Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas.
Ms McCutcheon’s 1st and 2nd class
The boys and girls have spent much of December preparing for their Christmas Show – Elves on Strike. They have been working very hard and produced an excellent performance on the night of the concert. They looked the real deal in their costumes.
They made snowflakes and winter trees in Art and they have been learning about the months and seasons in maths.
They are counting down the days until Santa comes to visit and they are all looking forward to a well-earned break during the Christmas holidays. Well done everyone!
Mr Smith’s 3rd class
Our class has been extremely busy this month.
In maths, we have been engaging with fractions and time.
In PE, we completed our rugby block with Pat, thanks a million to Pat. We also started swimming at Nenagh Leisure Centre.
In RE, we read the story of the story of the First Christmas.
This month, we also completed our recount writing pieces.
In gaeilge, we have been ag labhairt faoi agus ag cleachtadh “an Chéad Nollaig.”
In art we have created our abstract Christmas trees. These turned out great.
A big part of our month has been getting ready for the CBS Christmas concert. We performed 2 songs, “Rudolph an fia rua” and “Up on the rooftop”. We also recited a poem, “Twas the night before a Politically Correct Christmas”. We enjoyed the show, even if it were a little wracking.
Our class really enjoyed the Santa Dash also. Santa really clocked kms here. Go raibh míle maith agat, San Nioclás!!!!
We now look forward to Christmas.

We created our own Christmas trees and also drew ‘The Grinch’ and ‘Santa’ for art.
Ms McCabe’s 2nd – 6th classroom
We had a very busy December this year. We really enjoyed going to see the secondary school on their open day. We saw the computer room, woodwork room PE hall and canteen. It was a lovely experience.
The Christmas tree festival was on in st Mary’s church. There was over 100 Christmas trees and one from our school called CBS naturally. We all picked out our favourite tree.
The month ended with our Christmas celebration concert in the hall. It was a great success and we enjoyed taking part with our classmates.
We would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2025. See you next year!!!!
