Welcome back to school! We had a very busy month. Miss Brophy apologises that we could not go out in the snow the week we came back. The lucky 2nd classes went out with their teachers. Look out for the photo’s down below.
On Wednesday of Catholic Schools Week, we had a Grandparents Mass in the church.The second classes made great projects on their grandparents and were displayed at the mass. Thank you to Father Ger who said a lovely mass and to all the grandparents who came and participated in the mass.

have won again as they beat
Castleconnell primary school and are on to the next stage. Best of luck.
Our school quiz teams have
did a great job in the credit union quiz. Although they didn’t win, they put in a great effort and represented the school well.
An Author named Marjorie
Quarton came to visit 5th and 6th to talk about her book called Corporal Jack. The book is about a dog called Jack working in World War 1. Jack came from Germany but when his master was killed, he
became mascot for the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. It is based on a true story.
The Clan Cluana Theatre compary returned to the school again to preform another fantastic show. 2nd to 4th class really enjoyed the energetic production of Tír na Nóg.
Class Notes
Miss Barry’s second class made pizza to learn about fractions. The whole class thought it was delicious. Ms Barry’s class went playing in the snow. They really enjoyed it. They learned about bacteria and learned how to wash their hands properly to get rid of most of the bacteria. In maths they learned about money and different currencies around the world. This luck class got to play in the snow with their teacher!
Ms Glennon’s 2nd class are preparing for their first confession next Tuesday. They did art which was based on the lost sheep. On the 14th of January, it was snowing so the boys put on their coats and went out to play in the snow and throw snowballs. For grandparents day, the class interviewed their grandparents and did a project on them. Jake Donnellan-Houlihan won player of the tournament award and also won a trophy with Lorrha soccer club. Sean Walshe did his own project on different species of whales.
Ms McGrath’s class did a project on rainforests.They also studied James Rizzi in art. They drew out plans for their Lego project. In English they are also learning the comprehension strategy, “Questioning”. In maths, the class are learning fractions.
In History, Mr Shine class are learning about the Titanic and World War I. In geography,the class learned about the digestive system. Mr Shines 5th class were inspired by the artist Joan Miro. The boys have started rugby with Pat on Wednesdays.
Ms Ryan’s class are learning about multiplication.The class made lanterns in art and Owen and Ben made penguins.The class also made sport facilities out of Lego
