Ms McCutcheon’s Junior Infant class

Junior Infants have settled very well into their new school. They went on a tour of the school and even got to look around Mary & Mr Greene’s office! They have made lots of new friends and they love playing in the playground. The boys and girls have started to learn their sounds and we have been sorting in Maths. The parachute was a huge hit in PE. We all love Fridays as we get to do dance with Megan. The boys and girls are excellent singers and we have learned lots of new songs. Keep up the great work everyone!

Mr Tooher’s Junior Infant class

Junior Infants, Room 3 have been incredibly busy for the first 6 weeks of school.

We started off by learning about classroom promises and classroom jobs that we were a part of. We met all of our new classmates. It took us a while to remember each other’s names but we’re just about there now! We learned a new language, counted to 10 and focused on 6 letter sounds, using songs, actions, play, stories, games and rhymes along with team teaching-led activities twice a week. We also learned how to form these letters using chalk, paint, markers, playdoh and pencils.

Not only have our brains gotten bigger but we’re  also understanding how to listen, share and take turns. It hasn’t always been rosy in the garden and we’ve had a few ‘disagreements’ with the teacher and classmates but we’re learning how to tell the truth, say sorry and talk about our worries and problems.

Stay tuned for more fun from Room 3 coming your way!!

Ms Glennon’s Senior Infant’s class

We have had a lovely start to our school year in Room 15. We are lucky to have a new pupil called Richard in our class. We have had lots of fun dancing with Megan on Fridays. Aisling also visits us from Music Generation on a Thursday.

We learned all about our 5 senses in SESE and completed lovely Mr. and Mrs. Potato heads for art.

As Gaeilge we have been working on our comhrá laethiúl and also lots on the topic of Ar Scoil.

For Maths we have revised our numbers 1-5 and we had fun learning how to play snakes and ladders.

We are looking forward to another busy and enjoyable month in October.

Ms Doyle’s Senior Infant’s class

September has been a wonderful month in Senior Infants! All the boys and girls have settled into Senior Infants so well and have made a fantastic start to the school year. We have been very busy learning, playing and making new memories together.

The children have really enjoyed Music Generation with Aisling every Thursday and Dance with Megan every Friday morning. They have shown great enthusiasm and have loved taking part in these fun and creative activities.

In literacy, we have been working hard on our blending skills and recognising our tricky words. We have also started our literacy stations, which the children are really enjoying. These give us lots of opportunities to practise our skills in fun and engaging ways.

Every morning, we take part in fine motor stations to help develop and strengthen the children’s fine motor skills. The boys and girls have really enjoyed these activities and are becoming more confident using different tools and completing a variety of tasks.

We have also enjoyed listening to some lovely stories, including Elmer and The Ugly Duckling. These stories have helped us to talk about how everyone can be different and that being unique is something to be celebrated.

Well done to all the boys and girls on a fantastic first month in Senior Infants! I am very proud of how well they have settled and I’m looking forward to all the exciting learning and adventures ahead.

Ms Shanahan’s 1st class

We have had a great start to First Class. We welcomed two new boys John & Guilherme, who have settled in really well. We have enjoyed going to the playground and learning some new Gaelic Football skills with Pat. We have been working hard on our reading and phonics. We have learned all about numbers 1 to 20 and 2D shape. We have learnt about schools in the past and types of transport in the past. We have done some lovely Autumn trees in Art and created pictures using only 2D shapes.

Mr O’Sullivan’s 5th class

The boys have settled back into school very well after the summer holidays and have made a positive start to 5th Class.

They have worked hard, re-established classroom routines and are getting to know their new expectations and responsibilities. We have also had a busy month outside the classroom.

The boys completed four cycling lessons with Cycle Safe Ireland, developing their cycling skills and learning about road safety.  As part of our Active Schools work, we have also begun our Run Around Europe initiative.

The boys are enjoying getting active each day and working together towards our class goal. Overall, it has been a very positive start to the school year, and we look forward to building on this progress throughout the coming months.

Ms Maher’s 6th class
We are delighted to be back in school. Our classroom is very busy. We have completed our 3rd week of swimming and are really enjoying it. As part of active schools we are completing walk around Europe initiative – we have completed our walk around France by walking around the track. We had our prayer service today and may God bless us all for the rest of the school year.

Mr Buckley’s class

Mr. Buckley’s class had a very busy month of September. Our theme this month was ‘Autumn’, where we learned about the changing of the seasons, we went on nature walks, collected autumn items, learned autumn songs, listened to Autumn stories and created Autumn Art. We acted out the story of Little Red Riding Hood with our puppets and did loads of fun literacy activities while also visiting the library.

We are currently taking Tae Kwon Do classes with Master Sheamus and are integrating with Ms Glennon’s and Ms Doyle’s classes for music and dance.

Ms Sheary’s class

All the boys and girls have settled back into school in Ms. Shearys Rm 5 over the past month and we are
delighted to meet all our friends again. We hit the ground running learning all about ‘Ourselves’ and
‘Autumn’ this month.

We started Taekwondo and had lots of fun with Instructor Sheamus and Instructor
Marcus. We had trips to Lidl, the Abbey Court and Steeples this month.

We also were busy cooking – we
made pizza wraps, oat bars, egg fritters and granola.

The 2nd class crew started swimming this term and
we are all doing dance on a Friday.

It’s been a fun filled month and we are ready to take on next month.
