Autumn Update


St. Flannan’s

In English, we have been exploring recount writing. We also have been reading Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile.
We learned about our locality, natural landscapes and manmade features. We also learned about our saint; Saint Flannan.
In art, we designed stained glass windows for Saint Flannan. We also did scribble art and we practiced mixing colours.

Our class participated in the Fun Run Friday. This was in aid of Nenagh Olympic athletic club.





St. Fintan’s
We learned about Roald Dahl.
We read the Enormous Crocodile and completed projects in groups on his clevertricks.
We learned about Oisin in Tir na nÓg in S.E.S.E.
We learned about the Primary and Secondary colours for art.

Ms Glennon is very happy that Galway finally won the Liam McCarthy Cup!





St. Enda’s
We learned about Irish wildlife.
We completed projects in groups about different animals.
We learned about Fionn and the Salmon of Knowledge.
We are looking forward to seeing the play Peter in the year.

We made lovely Autumn trees using the pointillism technique.

St. Eugene’s
We learned about Addition and Subtraction, we also did place value.
In English, we read about Fantastic Mr. Fox.
In geography, we learned about county Tipperary, Ireland and Setanta .

In music, we also did the tin whistle.

St. Diarmuid’s
We were all excited to be back to school.
We celebrated Roald Dahl’s birthday and read the BFG.
We also made our own dream jars.
We learned all about autumn and diurnal and nocturnal animals.

We are also learning about 2D shapes. We started swimming and recorder lessons. 



St. Declan’s
We were all delighted with our new class.
Four new boys joined us this year.
We are reading our first novel “The Iron Man” and practising our recount writing.
We have learned all about Australia and Aboriginal people and now we are doing a project on Australian animals.

Mrs Curran is coming every Wednesday to teach us how to play recorder. 

St. Conall’s

We took part in the literary festival in Dromineer.
We started to read a novel called “Shadow” by Michael  Morpurgo.
We made projects about Mexico and on Diarmuid and Grainne.
Some pupils in the class are taking part in the M.S. Readathon Fundraiser.
We carried out research on Hurricane Irma.
We are creating a school magazine which will be called C.B.Social – you can purchase the magazine next month.

Aaron Coonan and Troy Donnelan are taking part in the cross country.



St. Canice’s

We are reading a book about Matilda.
In maths we are doing place value.
In art we did free hand of Ms Honey’s Cottage.
On Thursday we are constructing cottages.

We are planning to bake on Friday.



St. Brendan’s

This month we learned all about “the eye” in science. We looked at optical illusions and how sometimes our eyes play tricks on us.
We also studied the Great Barrier Reef on the eastern coast of Australia and even made our own reef fish.

We started our recount writing while also participating in the Dromineer literary festival through our poetry entries.



St. Thomas’

We learned about autumn and did some lovely Autumn Art.

Room 14 have been very active during the month of September. We are preparing for the Cross Country, we took part in the fun run and we are swimming every week. We’ve also been busy doing our weekly breakfast morning. The boys buy, prepare and cook the food themselves and enjoy it every Friday morning.
