Easter in our School
Ms Twomey’s Junior Infant class
March was a very busy and exciting month for Junior Infants! We had lots of fun learning the Haka as Gaeilge, as well as singing and moving to Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. We even had a special visit from Larry the Leprechaun!
We kept busy creating beautiful artwork for Mother’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter. After all our hard work reading for our Read and Raise fundraiser, we thoroughly enjoyed a well-earned pizza party.
We are really enjoying our hurling sessions every Monday with the TY students from St. Mary’s, who are teaching us how to strike the ball. We also planted basil and cress seeds and are very excited to watch them grow over the coming weeks.
Of course, we finished the term on a sweet note by enjoying some Easter treats with Ms. Twomey before heading off for our two-week break.
Well done to all the boys and girls for a fantastic month!

Mr Tooher’s Junior Infant class

There have been pizzas parties, play, posing and St. Patrick’s day singing and dancing in front of the whole school. We have also become serious hurling and camogie players!
We have made great strides with our learning.
We have almost covered all letter sounds (z and q left!)
We have learned how to blend 3 letter sounds to make our first words.
We have learned about tricky words that can’t be sounded out.
We are forming our numbers from 0-5 with much more ease.
We are getting much better at turn taking, sharing and using our kind words to communicate.
We have learned lots of short prayers to use everyday.

Ms Glennon’s Senior Infant’s class
This month was a busy month in senior infants.
We really enjoyed our Read and Raise fundraiser
especially when our parents came in to read our favourite stories to us. We got to visit the library for
storytime with Margaret and our picture even made the local newspaper!
We also celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge. We practiced our Frásaí Gaeilge every day, completed our
seanfhocail competition and we finished the week with our Lá Glas. Everybody wore something
green and we performed “Dhá Éininí Beaga & An tEarrach an seasúr is fear” for the school.
We learned all about the lifecycle of a plant in SESE. We completed an experiment to show
transpiration. We loved hearing the story of Jack and The Beanstalk and we put the story together in
the correct sequence in our scrapbooks.
Finally we enjoyed making chococlate nests as an easter treat. We are all looking forward to a well
earned rest over the next two weeks!

Ms McCutcheon’s 1stclass
We have had a very busy month in 1st class. We have been working very hard, putting a big focus on speaking Irish for Seachtain na Gaeilge. The children made shamrock collages and designed rainbows for St. Patrick’s Day. They also performed an Irish song and poem for our Lá Glas.
We really enjoyed the Read and Raise Fundraiser and we are looking forward to a trip to the cinema for being one of the classes to read the most and raise the most money for our new AstroTurf field. We are all looking forward to a well-earned break over the Easter Holidays!

Ms Shanahan’s 2ndand 3rdclass

Ms Gratton’s 4th class
March was a very busy and enjoyable month for our 4th class boys. In Maths, we focused on fractions and patterns, and the boys worked hard while having fun exploring new concepts. We also completed a 6-week block of swimming, where everyone showed great enthusiasm and confidence in the water. We had a fantastic time celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge, taking part in fun activities and using our Irish throughout the week. Creativity was on full display during our art lessons, with the boys completing some really imaginative projects.
To top it all off, we even did some baking and made delicious mini egg chocolate chip cookies, which were a big hit with everyone!

Mr O’Sullivans 6thclass
In March, we learned about Saint Carlo Acutis. Everyone in 6th class did a project about him.
As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we did La glas for St Patrick’s day. The songs we learned for Lá Glas were ‘An t -Earrach’ and ‘Glaoch na hEireann’.
Sister Essie came into our class and talked to us about confirmation. We also started to practice our letter to the bishop. We had our ceremony of light in March and we had our last family mass also.
In SESE, we learned about world war II and the holocaust and we also kept on reading our novel called The Guns Of Easter.
We also finished our Fundraiser for the school’s new astro pitch. The fundraiser was called ‘Read and Raise’ where we had to read as much as possible and raise as much money as possible.
We also went swimming for one week which was really fun and we also went to the yard to play tag rugby.
Liberty jr won an easter egg from Nenagh college Art competition. And that is all the work we did in March, we had a very busy month indeed!!!

We also celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge and Lá Glass – we had a quiz in the hall and we sang Glaoch na hÉireann and read the poem An tEarrach. We are now looking forward to our Easter Holidays. Happy Easter.
