Ms Glennon’s Junior Infant class

March has been a busy month in room 3. Junior Infants learned all about Spring. We learned

about the signs of Spring, animals and their babies and we also learned about the story of a

seed. We each got to sow our own sunflower seed. They are left in the sun and we water

them every day. We are excited to watch them grow.

In March we also celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge. We dressed up in green and performed

Rollaí Pollaí, Lá le Padraig and the Haca for the school. It was very exciting. We also entered

a comórtas seanfhocail and Nela won an easter egg from our class.

We are really enjoying hurling on a Wednesday morning with girls from Transition Year.

Ms Dooley’s Senior Infant’s class

March has been a busy month in Senior Infants.

We have begun coaching in hurling. We are working hard developing our fundamental movement skills and having great fun!

This month we celebrated Pancake Tuesday. We had a lovely morning of decorating pancakes using lots of different toppings. They made a yummy treat. Afterwards we wrote about our delicious creations!

We also celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge and St Patrick’s day. We made shamrocks, flags and pots of gold. They looked fantastic! We sang songs “as Gaeilge” and learnt a poem called “Seamróg Glas” which we performed at assembly. We also performed some of our favourite Irish songs in “Seó Tallaine Fíorúil” in the Féile an Aonaigh competition. You can see our performance here: https://youtu.be/a0TmpqQbhsk?feature=shared

In Maths we have been busy learning all about Time and the number 10. We used our playdough to create the number ten and sets of 10 objects. We are now very busy revising all of our from this term. It’s hard to believe that Easter is just around the corner. We are looking forward to some nice, chocolate eggs!

Ms Shanahan’s 1st class

In March we were lucky to have a new teacher in our class- Ms Sheehy. She has done lots of fun activities with us. We learnt all about Australia and did some Aboriginal art. We learnt all about games people played in the past and got to play these in the playground. We made some lovely Mother’s Day cards. We started hurling with three transition year students every Monday and are loving the variety of games. We had some Fifth class students in doing science experiments and really enjoyed learning from them. We have started to collect recycled bottles around the school and have made 15.15 already. We learnt about money and weight in Maths and wrote some lovely Easter stories in English.

Ms McCutcheon’s 1st and 2nd class

1st and 2nd class had a very busy month. They were learning about money in Maths and St. Patrick in History. They performed songs for our Seachtain na Gaeilge concert and loved dressing up in green for Lá Glas. They also enjoyed practicing An Dreoilín and loved performing it with the rest of the school. The boys and girls are really enjoying hurling every Monday and their skills are improving week after week. Keep up the great work!

Ms Sheary’s class

It was a great month in Rm 5. We did lots of activities – we made pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. We
