Ms Dooley’s/Ms Walsh’s Senior Infant’s class

It has been a very busy month in Senior infants.

We enjoyed learning all about money during Aistear and weight and capacity actively in class too.

Our fine motor Fridays groups is something that we have been working hard on too.

We all really enjoyed Active School’s week. The Yoga with Nessa and orienteering during Active schools week were really terrific.

Ms Shanahan’s 1st class

In May we learnt all about Irish Wildflowers and went for a walk around our school to see which ones we could spot.

We did nice art work too with the flowers that we picked. We learnt all about the people who work in our school and learnt lots of new vocabulary.

We learnt all about summer and painted and designed some pop art ice- creams. Siopadoireact was our theme in Irish.

We had active week and all agreed the yoga/ meditation was our favourite part.

We are looking forward to our school tour to Tearaways.

Ms McCutcheon’s 1st and 2nd class

1st and 2nd class have really enjoyed the month of May. We made the most of the good weather early in the month by doing a Run A Day for the Month of May, which everyone really enjoyed. The class painted beautiful Lighthouses and Hot Air Balloons in Art and they learned all about Florence Nightingale in History.

The boys and girls tried to make the most of Active School’s week despite the rainy conditions. They took part in daily yoga and circuits and they learned lots of new exercises. Well done boys and girls!

Mr Smith’s 3rd class

Our class has been extremely busy this month.

In maths, we have been engaging with money, capacity and word problems. As an addition to this, we ran a class wide copper trail competition, whereby the boys brought in any copper coins that were not being used at home. All coins were placed in jars of the competing tables and on May 9th, the teams laid out the coins in straight lines. The team with the longest line won and received homework passes. The winning table was the Lions. Well done lads. We also received some generous donations from members of staff. Many thanks to all. These coins will go towards paying for the class school tour.

In PE, we began our tennis block with Dermot from Birr Tennis Club, each Tuesday. We really enjoyed Active School’s Week and Sport’s Day was brilliant.

In gaeilge, we have been ag labhairt faoin Éadaí.

In SESE, we have learnt all about Normans and their Invasion of Ireland. We also learned about the explorer Christopher Columbus.

We also participated in the charity Jersey Day. The boys sported some nice jerseys.

Mr Buckley’s 4th class

We completed our standardised Micra-T and Sigma-T tests in Maths and English.

We read stories about dogs, mysteries and real life drama.

In Irish we studied the theme of Sa Bhaile.

The boys started tennis this month with Dermot.

We participated in active schools week and had a really enjoyable Sports Day.

We have been studying the water cycle in Gepgraphy.
