Christmas Cheer in Nenagh CBS

Ms Glennon’s class

December was a busy and festive month in room 3. We wrote recipes for ; “The Best Christmas Ever”. Seán White won a prize for his efforts, along with Andi Durnescu, Seán Mulcahy and Mark Ryan. We learned all about Advent and made some lovely Advent Wreaths.

We created our own Christmas decorations from clay. These were hand painted and sealed ready for the boy’s Christmas trees.

In SESE we learned about Christmas traditions all around the world. Boys got to share their own traditions with the class.

We also made Christmas cards with a short message inside for people in the local nursing homes.

We learned lots of Christmas songs and recorded a festive message for our family and friends.

Finally we are all really looking forward to Santa calling next week!

This month we have been very busy preparing for Christmas. We created Christmas Trees using pastel colours and made some beautiful Christmas decorations out of clay. We discussed Advent and listened to the Christmas story. We also visited the crib in St. Mary’s of the Rosary. We took part in the Fyffes Fitness challenge and had great fun running laps for the Santa Dash. Mrs. Sheary’s class wishes everyone a very happy Christmas.

Ms Barry’s class

December has flown by for us in 4th Class. We have had some great fun.

Two Elves named Chocolate and Marshmallow have come to our classroom and they are very mischievous. Ms. Barry is delighted!! One day they even threw clay from our daffodils around the room. We are really enjoying them.

In English we finished our Procedural Writing project by making Smoothies. (Special thanks to Ms. Kelly for bringing in her blender for us to use.)

In P.E. we are doing Gymnastics and learning about balance.

In Art we have learned how to draw Gnomes and we designed our own gnomes.

In Music we are busy learning a song called ‘It’s Raining Tacos on Christmas’ for the Christmas school collaboration.

As a treat after finishing our Christmas tests we had hot chocolate with marshmallows and watched a movie. It was a lovely activity in the evening.

We are really looking forward to the Holidays and we hope that everyone has a Happy and Safe Christmas.

We have had a great December here in 5th class learning lots of gaeilge for Christmas and getting excited about Daidi na Nollaig. We have done lots of art and games this month. We also did an interesting project about the people in our communities who help us and how their volunteering can affect our lives. It was a short month but a great month.

Ms McCabe’s class

Due to the new regulations, we have to wear masks in school. It feels very weird but at least we know we are safer, and we are doing our bit for the world.

We performed ‘Electric Dreams’ in class for our parents. Artiom won pizzas from Supermacs for the class with his winning spooky picture. Kacper won the best procedure for the class. Mrs McCabe read ‘The Christmas Rat’ to the class. It was written by Avi, and was a story about a boy called Eric who saves a rat in his basement from the pest control man.

We made cards and messages to send to the old Folks Nursing Homes. They should lift their spirits and wish them well for Christmas. We also made robin pictures and every day we ran the track.

Mr Hayes’s class

December was an entertaining month for us. We learned Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade and recorded it in the G.P room for everybody to hear! We made Christmas decorations in Art. In Maths we covered Time, Speed, and distance and we also did an end of term maths test.
